After more than a little detective work (which equates to calling almost every, single rental agency in the area and being told no), I was frustrated because I was unable to contact my neighbor’s landlord to fill them in on the good times going down right outside my bedroom window.
Monday turned into Tuesday, which is when I had another dental appointment (which I handled beautifully, thank you). As I’m making the turn to go into my little cul de sac, I notice that Loud Neighbor is on his way to work (this is apparent by him sporting his uniform and driving his truck toward the base), so I remember that there is a “For Rent” sign lying on its side by Loud Neighbor’s front porch.
I drove by close and slow and put my glasses on, and lo and behold, actually read the name on the sign. Muwahahahaha!
I googled the company and found a number and called it. I asked the lady that answered the phone if there was someone there that could tell me if 104 ABC Street was one of their properties. Turns out it is, and she could help me. So I told her EVERYTHING.
Seems that I am not the first or second to call and complain on Loud Neighbor. She thanked me profusely for the information, took my name and number and said she would be getting to work on this.
Ten minutes later she calls me back. WITH the name and phone number to Loud Neighbor’s First Sergeant and a message from the Sergeant requesting that should this happen again, we are to call his cell phone while the party is going on and he will come down and catch them in the act. YAY!
Needless to say, I will be passing this information on to the family whose yard was urinated in late last month.
Now, for those of you not familiar with the First Sergeant (aka First Shirt) concept, let me help you out a little. (I was an Air Force dependent wife for the first 18 years of my adult life.) If you get arrested and the First Shirt gets involved? You’re busted. Tear up a rental? Busted. Bounce too many checks (aka financial irresponsibility)? Busted. Reported too many times for loud and obnoxious behavior/public intoxication? BUSTED. The Air Force (and probably all of the other armed forces) are supposed to live by a pretty high standard, and being a nuisance (oh, I don’t know…as in the example of my neighbor?) That’s kind of frowned upon.
That said, all I can say is this: Party on, Wayne. Party on, Garth. Do it quietly, however, because you never know who else might be invited to your little Suarez!
UPDATED 2/29/12 — I got a phone call from my better half today. It seems that Loud Neighbor was out on his deck cleaning trash and taking it elsewhere. When I got home at 5:00 this evening, the deck back there was spotless. Ok, wind…you can blow all you want to, now. 🙂 Thanks to Linda at the rental agency for helping us out!
Loving these neighbor stories!
Thanks…It got interesting…There are three homes in our neighborhood that are rentals…There is one currently available, so we shall see what happens…
