I know. A whole week and not a peep out of me. I know.
This week’s wrap up is not terribly exciting.
Last weekend I spent the earlier part of the day doing laundry and cleaning house, as well as getting ready to travel out of town to Charlotte for Career Conference with my Pink Friends. (Yes, my Mary Kay partners in crime.) As I mentioned in another blog I try to keep up with, I wasn’t going to go, but things being what they were, I ended up getting to and had a ridiculously good time! We left Sunday morning and returned later Monday night, and ate and learned and socialized, and generally had a blast, and I am really ready to go again. 🙂
The following day we had to contend with the Social Security Administration for the hearing for J’s disability. That was a most of the day fiasco if ever there was one, and I would love to share that with you right now, but I am going to hold off on that just a little bit. I would kind of like to see what plays out before I put it all out there regarding the way our government handles certain things. I like to think that Uncle Sam knows what he’s doing, but… (There really WILL be a blog about this, I promise-I want to know how the story ends so I can condense it and share the whole thing.)
Being somewhat sleep deprived from the weekend, it was early to bed for me and back to the day job the next day. Take two days off and see what’s waiting for you! I am glad I have the Admin that I do, because it really could have been a LOT worse!
Had some more Mary Kay things going on, and did a little catching up in the studio (cleaning, bills, etc.), so as you can see, it just really wasn’t terribly blog-worthy.
EXCEPT…I have to share that I have lost 5 pounds (we did some serious walking down in Charlotte). I was tickled when I got on the scale. I would really like to lose about 5-10 more before surgery, but having quit smoking, I’m not sure how that will work. I do know that I have to move. A LOT.
I have been nicotine free for 11 days. I roomed in Charlotte with a smoker, made smoker friends, and didn’t cave once. 🙂 I have to admit, though, my zero mg nicotine cartomizers really help. Yes, I do love my e-cig. It has really helped me out in a pinch. No cheating at all, though I was tempted after having those few beers Sunday night at the hotel. Tracy would catch me looking at hers and remind me, “Jules? Boobs.” And that was all it took. 🙂
I have to laugh. When I first considered the e-cig, I had done a lot of research about it. Nobody seemed sure what the long term effects would be. Am I going to grow an extra limb? Is flavored water vapor harmful? Why won’t the FDA approve this as a safe way to kick the habit? Why do smokers care? I mean, OBVIOUSLY I was not too concerned about what kind of chemicals I was inhaling while smoking, so why would I worry about the side effects of an e-cig with zero nicotine in it? Sometimes I crack myself up.
Other Cool Stuff From The Week:
Also, I want to let you know that I am reading Suzie Ivy’s “Bad Luck Officer,” which can be purchased at Amazon or Barnes & Noble as an e-book. Good stuff, ladies. Given that I love a) good fiction; and b) women with a badge (because, face it, guys-women just make good cops), this purchase was win/win for Jules. Seriously, pick it up if you have a chance.
J came home from the store with a new toy this evening. It’s a handheld bug zapper that looks like a tennis or handball racquet. That thing is cool as hell! You get a badminton type of work out while killing the crap out of the mosquitos in the yard at dusk and after dark. You can check it out here.
This coming week is when the Mary Kay Spring Makeover Contest entries will start to be accepted. Please contact me (or your own Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant) for your before and after pictures and a makeover.
Until Next Time…
11 days!?! You’re a rock star. Great job!
Julie, one of my dearest friends, smoked for many years. About 4 years ago she quit with the E cigs. They worked. She is healthy and happy. I am too because I worried about her smoking. She like the choclolate flavored e-cigs. I am soproud of you!! Keep it up. Hugs. (I am writing an wordpress blog in your honor later today! Hugs!
