Another Day in the Life

At the rate I am going?

I will have a “Super-Sized” version of my Friday wrap-up, no?

Last night I got word from a friend of mine that her son (who has been stationed over in the middle east) was injured in an explosion and is on his way to Germany before coming home to Walter Reed Army Medical Center. This chilled my blood, as my oldest son was in the Air Force and ended up at Walter Reed, also. Not a great feeling for a military mom, that’s for sure, so “NCMOMof3,” if you stumble across this by some chance, please know our thoughts and prayers are with you and your son, who is such an amazing man!  I just KNOW he is going to be alright. And this isn’t something that moms imagine for their babies. 😦

From my girl, Claire. Thank you!

Alright, I wanted to send a shout-out to my girl, Claire, who is the power house behind “I’ve Been There, Claire.”  She was kind enough, a couple of weeks ago, to send me a graphic that I LOVE, but was kind of superstitious to post before I hit my 30 day no-nicotine mark. I’m past that now, by a few days and think that I am good to go, so I really have to share this with y’all!  I have mad love for my girlfriends (and guy-friends) in the blogosphere. I didn’t want to jinx anything by posting prematurely, and I am just tickled to know someone would take a little time to create and send something in my honor.  I am going to find a way to use my widgets to post this in my sidebar!!!! 🙂

So, you all know that I contacted my surgeon on Monday (or maybe it was Tuesday) to let him know that yes, I’ve been 30 days nicotine-free. They told me they were going to hit up our insurance company, and today I got a call back. I have to go back to the surgeon’s office for a re-evaluation so that he can write a “medical necessity” letter to go to my insurance people. This appointment is two weeks from now. I’m still on it, but a little disappointed that it’s two weeks for the second look at the girls. 😦  Then you figure a week or two for approval and then another week or two to get it scheduled. That puts surgery first part of June, smack dab in the middle of swim season.  But hey. Maybe I will look super cute in a suit by August, huh?  I should have started this ball rolling in January. 😦  But hey…I WILL be adorable by fall, if nothing else.

And I’ve decided it’s off to the gym on Monday afternoon. I was going to start today, but was so excited to get home to find my “Let’s Pretend This Didn’t Happen” from B&N that I pre-ordered, and it didn’t end up on my front porch, today, either. *grumble* and stuff.

I have also started a 30 day trial of “Sensa,” that stuff you sprinkle on your for that is supposed to inhibit one’s appetite. We shall see if that is going to work. Y’all know I love my food, especially now that I can taste it. 🙂

I reckon that’s all I’ve got for now, so Until Next Time!

I must start with congratulations on your 30 days without cigarettes! ~ Happy dance for you

You warned me you are blogging like crazy but man oh man you have jumped in with both feet. Simply amazing and kudos 🙂

On the subject of your comment to my post…I find non-fiction writing much simpler than fiction and I write both. Two of the wonderful non-fiction writers I love are Linda Anselmi http://belowthesaltblog.wordpress.com Linda has been a friend for 30 years and she in awesomeness times 10. Then Melissa Crytzer-Fry who I wrote about in one of my earlier posts http://wp.me/p15Fdq-8g You will also find a link to her site there and she is a writer’s dream.

Keep up the great work that is now encompassing your life. You inspire me!

    • Thank you SO much!!! I was telling the hubs at supper about having read “Cadet” and “Officer” in the space of just a couple of days (which is kind of a feat for me, because I’d hardly had time to read like that, but remembered that it was actually FUN, ha ha), and that I always peruse your blog in case I missed a tweet of a newer post.

Re: the smokeless me – my lungs, heart, and blood pressure are thanking me, I’m sure. My scale, on the other hand, is starting to hint around that more than one person is getting on and I swear I saw “one at a time, plz” on the digi-readout the other morning. *cringe* I don’t know which is worse…smoking or fat, but at least fat might be easier to kick…especially if my WONDERFUL (read: hint) insurance company approves medical necessity for my reduction surgery. 😉

Have a WONDERFUL weekend, and if you are working, please be safe.

      😀

SMOKING is worse! Melissa (who I wrote about) is visiting tomorrow and going with me for a ride-a-long on Sunday. We have nefarious plans but I promise to be safe. You have a wonderful weekend too.

        • You guys have fun. Ride-a-longs are so much fun! I got to do one when I lived in Clovis with one of the Sergeants. It was really neat when he let me hold the radar gun. Not so neat was the domestic. THAT was scary!

Congratulations on being 30+ days nicotine free! I imagine you’re over the dark days of cravings. Keep it up 🙂

    • Kat says:

Also…wow I just saw me over there on the right 🙂 I’m really honoured and touched.

      • Awww, thanks, Kat! Yes, not many cravings at all, anymore. Now food is the enemy, LOL…but that’s ok. I’ve done the “drop a few pounds” thing before. 🙂

And yes, I had to put you on my sidebar. I love your posts. 🙂 In fact, I am heading over to read the rest of your most recent. I got it on my phone and was out without my glasses and couldn’t see it, LOL…So I am in front of the big screen now. 🙂

Julie when I quit smoking I was already extremely curvy, I went up 4 dress sizes in 3 months. At the time I ate what I wanted. Please don’t let that demotivate you when your lungs are clearer exercise is easier. With time you stop needing to substitute cigarettes with food.

    • Girl, you know what? Quitting is not something I would look forward to doing again, and THAT will surely be enough to keep me from picking it back up. I can live with being “fluffy” for a while.

  4. LOL, did you see on the sensa infomercial, when the dude sprinkles it ontop of a burger bun. Wouldn’t it all just fall off?

But really, congratulations on the non smoking! Amazing!!
