4/20 Wrap-Up

Is it just me, or has this week been more than a little surreal?

Wow…This month is flying by like nobody’s business!

So what have we done since our last wrap-up?

The first blog-worthy tidbit was the 3rd Annual Pig in the Park, to which I was invited to go out and photograph for my new contractee (is that what I would call the people who have contracted my studio to go on location to photograph for them?), a local media outlet who has recently put out a web site of FREE online, local news, as opposed to the  site that you must subscribe to the print edition of their news to read the online edition.  I don’t need a bunch of paper to get my news online, you know?  At any rate, after 5 hours, lots of calories and DNG’s (digital negative files), my assistant and I came back to the studio, exhausted, but in a good way. She grabbed her gear, transferred it to her car, hit the road and raced home to start working on her images.

Update on my copy of Jenny Lawson’s book, “Let’s Pretend This Never Happened.” As I mentioned the other day, I had pre-ordered a copy of the actual-hold-it-in-your-hands book. I am an e-reader junkie, having both a Nook and an iPad with Kindle software installed on it (best of both worlds, baby), but I also got an autographed book-plate for the actual hard cover, so that was pretty hard for me to pass up. I Tweeted about this and it turns out that ‘most everyone I know that pre-ordered the book had theirs already. Huh? But…but…I pre-ordered!  Doesn’t that count for something? So when the hubs called me at the day job yesterday, I thought he was calling to tell me my book had come in, because after all, I had the shipping notification sent to me in email when it finally hit the road to come to me. Well, no, that’s not why he called, so I told him to call me if my book came in. He knew I was a little antsy after ODNT was kind enough to vogue with HER copy all over Twitter the night before and I was feeling more than a little jealous. He called twice yesterday – and not about my MIA book. 😦 I still hadn’t received it by early afternoon today, so I went to my bookseller’s site, logged on and checked its status. As of 1:00 p.m. my book was sitting somewhere out there in Mesquite, Texas. It left Sparks, Nevada, ended up in San Pablo, California, and then over to Mesquite, and it is scheduled to arrive here, on my humble door step, on Monday. I imagine it will spend the weekend with its traveling companions in some warehouse in Greensboro, NC.  When Jenny tweeted a picture of her book on display at the airport, I was incensed! I bet the airport didn’t pre-order her book. *humph* Lesson learned? I am really impatient. Who knew? Ok, peanut gallery, I heard that…shhhhhh!

Because I had no Bloggess book to read, I needed to find something to help me unwind a little, so downloaded a couple of e-books by a new-to-me author, Shaunna Rodriguez, and I am about halfway through ”Her Obsession” and was doing well to put my tablet down to go to dinner this evening. CC is something else. 🙂 I stumbled upon Shaunna’s e-books via another author I follow on Twitter, and I spent one weekend (Easter, I believe it was) downloading samples of their e-books. One of these days I will have to create my e-book “must-read” list to share with y’all. My taste in books is as eclectic and varied as my taste in music.

See what happens with a camera and a long checkout line? I thought of you all, and knew a photoshopped “d” would fit the bill for an occasion like today.

So it is April 20. The stoner holiday. Hitler’s birthday. The date Columbine went down. Yes, 4/20 means something to most everyone, I assume. Ok, if you are good about remembering dates, LOL…

However, while 4/20 is notorious for all kinds of things, one major thing stands out in my mind, and that is the 4/20 that went down in 1985. That is when #1 Son was born, and I still cannot believe he is 27 today. And it tickles me every year that the kid born on 4/20 has never smoked weed, LOL… 🙂

Happy birthday, CJ!  Love you, proud of you, and miss you! 🙂

Now, for all my LEO friends that might be reading this? I am not advocating the use of illegal substances, I am simply acknowledging the lifestyle choices of many…errr…a very few of my friends, maybe only one, but I wanted them…errr…him…no…her…to know that I was thinking of them on this very special day. 🙂 And I’m quite certain that the individual in question is only using it for medical reasons in a state that has legalized it. Yes, that’s it…that is my story and I’m sticking to it.  😉

In closing, we’re off to a wedding tomorrow, so I imagine this girl will have her hands full with DNG’s (remember what those are?  Who’s paying attention, LOL!) to post process from what I am certain will be an amazing event.

Oh, and before I head off to that bubble bath that I have been waiting for all day? I sprinkled that Sensa on my food today. Breakfast & lunch. Didn’t use it at dinner, as we went out to eat, and I didn’t want to get full that fast. It seems that the active whatever in that stuff messes with your brain in that it makes you think you are FULL. I know I was barely able to get through one waffle this morning, and it took me an hour to eat a sandwich favorite that normally would have been gobbled down in 5 minutes. And we won’t even talk about the 12 sunflower seeds I ate. Normally I will knock back an entire 2/$1.00 bag of sunflower seeds a day, but not today.  I’ll keep ya posted.

Till next time…and don’t forget to follow me on Facebook!

I’ve never been accused of “Vogue-ing.” That’s excellent! It insinuates that I have “style,” “grace” and possibly even that I give “good face.” Thanks, Jules. I sure hope you get your book soon.

I pre-ordered too but did NOT receive a bookplate with my book (which I’m about 4/5 through….probably finish tonight). Yes, it’s awsome! I am, however, going to Dallas to see Jenny IN PERSON. So she can sign my book IN PERSON, so it’s really better (at least that’s what I tell myself).

    • Oh, hell YEAH, that’s better!!!! OMG…You lucky girl! 🙂 Tonight was the first time in a very long time I wished my father had custody of me. He lives in Napa, CA…you know…right up the road from her signing tonite? 🙂

I assume you will take pictures and tweet and blog your ass off, right? 🙂

Talk to me!
