The Hangover Chronicles; And an Award…

Initially, I had intended to apologize for my rant-y, vent-y, vodka induced woe-is-me last post. Then it dawned on me.

My blog, my rules (I read that on one of the blogs I follow), so no apologies. Because, yeah. My blog, my rules, my thoughts, my feelings…But I will preface a rant with a warning, and I’m glad that actually steered someone away from that particular post. 🙂 You’re welcome. 😉

I blog what I feel, and if I need to whine/vent/rage/cry, then I’m going to do it, because in doing so? I may save a life or a knuckle, ha ha. 😉 Oh, and I know the importance of healthy knuckles, because, during my pool cleaning adventure today, I came across the spider from hell and ended up bashing a knuckle against the step-rail as I jumped back from the huge (ok, maybe he was an inch long; maybe he was a foot) creature that came crawling at me. //shudder// and //owwwww!// But it IS a lovely shade of purple, which is my favorite color, so there’s that… 😉

I took yesterday off as a “Stay Under My Rock” day. I didn’t move from the couch much. I caught up on my favorite shows, downed some popcorn (one of my favorite snacks, next to crack-flower seeds), and basically sat around feeling sorry for myself. I allowed myself ONE DAY…Over. Period.

I got up at oh-dark-thirty today and watched World War Z and found that a good world-ending zombie flick has a way of putting things in perspective. So I put my big girl panties back on, and did what needed to be done around here.

Now I am going to thank my brother from another mother (sorry, cliche, LOL), Rob. He sent over another award while I was starting this post, soooo… Read on:

Rob put me and my sorry ass up for the WordPress Family Award.  Rob’s blog makes me laugh and think. He’s also diet-aware (and I like to surround myself with like minds), wine-aware (I like to surround myself with like minds), and creative (did I mention that I like to surround myself with like minds?) His music is amazing! As part of my accepting this nomination, I have agree to fulfill these obligations:
1. Display the award logo on your blog. (I’ve included it in my awardsslideshow on my blog and below:)

Thanks, Rob!!!

Thanks, Rob!!!

2. Link back to the person who nominated you. (done!)

3. Nominate 10 others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family (Going there in a paragraph or two…)

4. Let your 10 Family members know you have awarded them (Give me a few, dammit!)

5. That is it. Just please pick 10 people that have taken you as a friend, and spread the love. (There are more than ten, I think, but I’m going to hit up a mix of new and old friends that would also fit right into my real life family. Some of you even put the FUN in dysfunctional, LOL…) Also, I totally understand if  you are busy and can’t or choose not to participate. I just want to let you all know that I read you, see your comments, and take notice out here.
Not in any particular order….
1.)  Lisa at Lisa Macy Coaching – Lisa always has an uplifting and encouraging word for me, no matter what.
2.) Jill at Jill Weatherholt – She’s a creative, and her mind seems to go in the same directions as mine, so there’s that whole kindred spirit-thing going on. 😉
3.) Robin at Witless Dating After Fifty – Robin is my newly adopted big sister, which is refreshing, because I’ve always been the big sister, and we relate to the same things on many levels. ❤
4.) That anonymous blogger whose life is more daring than even my fantasies at The Shit Show That Is My Life  – She’s that cousin that doesn’t coddle me. Thanks for the “real,” Lady! 😉
5.) Aussa over at Hacker. Ninja. Hooker. Spy. – Girl, I know you don’t do awards, but I have to give you a shout out because – hospital settings, and you just “get it” LOL….You have a ScrewLucy, so that’s bonafide family. 😉
6.) Skwarl at There’s a Squirrel in My Blog – Because she really is family. 🙂 Plus she trusts me to train her. 😉
7.) CookieCakes at Cordelia’s Mom – When I read her blogs, sometimes it seems like I’m reading what is inside my head. Please don’t hold that against her. 😉
8.)  Janey over at Cupid or Cats – She makes me proud that I married an Irish guy. That makes us in-laws in a way, right?
9.) Mother Hen at the Mother Hen Diaries  – Just good reading. I could SO see here with a cup of coffee and homemade coffee cake at the table with Grandma, Mom, and me. 🙂
10.) That sweet blogger over at I Prefer Deep Blues and Sea Foam Greens – She is the niece I wish I had. My r/l sister doesn’t have kids, soooooo….
Here are the rules:

Look at you, my dear little sis! You seem to have made a bigger family connection and have so many people to love and love you back! I am so very proud! Congratulations for this wonderful award and thank you very much for including me once again in an awarding post! You, Julie, are a sweetheart! I am sorry that I have been busy, had a great picnic ‘send off’ for my daughter yesterday and so, I ran to the library, typed my pre-written post and took off for a cookout at our local state park. all 3 kids and 6 grandchildren present! It was also, I emphasized, my Mother’s Day celebration, too! Enough excitement, I am sort of getting tired today… we are doing Open Stock at work… Now you are caught up with my stuff and I will get to this award post this weekend! Smiles, Robin

I love your picks, Julie! So many excellent blogs!!!!

  3. Aussa Lorens says:

Huzzah! So happy to be part of the family 😉 Thanks Julie, I always always appreciate a shout out 😀 I also may steal this “hide under a rock day” from you. That sounds helpful.

  4. janeybgood says:

I’m in a family, sniff sniff. Thanks Julie!

  5. OMGosh! Thank you Julie! It may take me a couple of three of four days because I’m semi without computer but I will post! 😀

  6. Thanks for the nomination, Julie. Due to time constraints, I may have to pass on this one for now, but I should be able to accept it in a couple of months. I love that you enjoy my blog and so often comment on it – and always remember that your blog is yours, you can do whatever you want to with it. I had to beat that into my own head on a number of occasions.

  7. Hey, no apologies necessary, Julie. Sometimes we just have to get things out and we usually feel so much better afterward.
Thank you so much for the award! Like Aussa, I don’t do the awards, but I really appreciate you thinking of me. I’m happy we recently connected and thrilled to have another kindred blogging sister. 🙂
I hope you have a great Monday!

🙂 Congratz on the award, and awwww thank you for letting me be a part of your WP family! ❤

  9. Unless you are slandering someone – you should never have to apologize for speaking (blogging) how you feel…even the vodka fueled ranty kind.

  10. ((but only after we go to the beach))

  11. never apologize for TRUE FEELINGS or I swear by all that is sacred and Holy I WILL END YOU….

    • I said I THOUGHT about it…thinking isn’t doing, because if it was? The house would be re-painted, the hammock would be hung out back, the patio repairs would be done, and I would be disgustingly rich, LMAO!!!! 🙂

Talk to me!
