Hero’s Return…

Heh, heh, heh...

Heh, heh, heh…

Guess who came to see us this evening?

Yeah, it was Hero. He showed up when Peri came to the house tonight on her way home from work. I was just getting out of the tub, I could hear our dogs barking, and Johnny said, “Guess who greeted Peri at the door?” It took a few minutes to register, but it clicked and I threw on my jammies, slippers and robe, and went running out to the front yard, but he was gone. 😦

He came back though. He hopped his front paws right into my lap when I sat down on the porch swing. Johnny was going to get his keys so we could take the big baby back home. We didn’t think to chain him to the porch again, because honestly? At 9:45 at night, there wasn’t much chance of anyone being out, right?

WRONG! Apparently, Pat was having visitors. There was a child sized human walking to a car in Pat’s driveway, and Hero must have seen him/her, and went over to visit and make new friends. The kid saw Hero, the kid ran like a bat outta hell up the stairs and into the house with Hero hot on his heels. If there was any doubt about Pat’s gender, it’s gone now. Not many men can make a blood curdling scream the way Pat did when Hero tried to follow the small person into the house. “Screeeeech!!!! Awwww, SHIT, OH SHIIIIIIT!!!! OOOOOHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIT!!!!!!” Sounded a little like this:

Or kind of like this:

But mostly it sounded like this:

I’m sorry…I laughed my ass off.

The door slammed, the lights went out and Pat went full-on Armageddon mode. I know it’s probably not funny but Peri and I about lost it, laughing until one of us almost pee’d and I had tears in my eyes.

We managed to get him into the truck and get him back to his yard. As we were driving up the road past Pat’s house, it looked like they were standing guard against the big, scary dog until the guests could make their way safely to the car. I don’t think that wooden spoon was going to fend him off for long, ha ha.

We got Hero safely to his yard, but the house was dark, so we took his electric/invisible fence collar off before we crossed the driveway, and put it back on when we were where his brother, the Golden was, and then let him out of the truck.

Johnny is going to go back tomorrow when people are home/awake to get their name and number in case Hero comes back, again, which will probably happen. I sure hope she doesn’t ask us again if we want their dog. We’ll say yes, next time. 😉

I’ll keep you posted, because, OMG, I love that big ol’ doggie like crazy!

Until next time…

Hero would be lucky to have you for his owner!

  2. Two strikes against those owners. Keep him. Obviously, he likes you better.

  3. Keep him. Seriously. Those people do not deserve a dog. They are dumb as dirt.
