The Hangover Chronicles; And an Award…

Initially, I had intended to apologize for my rant-y, vent-y, vodka induced woe-is-me last post. Then it dawned on me.

My blog, my rules (I read that on one of the blogs I follow), so no apologies. Because, yeah. My blog, my rules, my thoughts, my feelings…But I will preface a rant with a warning, and I’m glad that actually steered someone away from that particular post. 🙂 You’re welcome. 😉

I blog what I feel, and if I need to whine/vent/rage/cry, then I’m going to do it, because in doing so? I may save a life or a knuckle, ha ha. 😉 Oh, and I know the importance of healthy knuckles, because, during my pool cleaning adventure today, I came across the spider from hell and ended up bashing a knuckle against the step-rail as I jumped back from the huge (ok, maybe he was an inch long; maybe he was a foot) creature that came crawling at me. //shudder// and //owwwww!// But it IS a lovely shade of purple, which is my favorite color, so there’s that… 😉

I took yesterday off as a “Stay Under My Rock” day. I didn’t move from the couch much. I caught up on my favorite shows, downed some popcorn (one of my favorite snacks, next to crack-flower seeds), and basically sat around feeling sorry for myself. I allowed myself ONE DAY…Over. Period.

I got up at oh-dark-thirty today and watched World War Z and found that a good world-ending zombie flick has a way of putting things in perspective. So I put my big girl panties back on, and did what needed to be done around here.

Now I am going to thank my brother from another mother (sorry, cliche, LOL), Rob. He sent over another award while I was starting this post, soooo… Read on:

Rob put me and my sorry ass up for the WordPress Family Award.  Rob’s blog makes me laugh and think. He’s also diet-aware (and I like to surround myself with like minds), wine-aware (I like to surround myself with like minds), and creative (did I mention that I like to surround myself with like minds?) His music is amazing! As part of my accepting this nomination, I have agree to fulfill these obligations:
1. Display the award logo on your blog. (I’ve included it in my awardsslideshow on my blog and below:)

Thanks, Rob!!!

Thanks, Rob!!!

2. Link back to the person who nominated you. (done!)

3. Nominate 10 others you see as having an impact on your WordPress experience and family (Going there in a paragraph or two…)

4. Let your 10 Family members know you have awarded them (Give me a few, dammit!)

5. That is it. Just please pick 10 people that have taken you as a friend, and spread the love. (There are more than ten, I think, but I’m going to hit up a mix of new and old friends that would also fit right into my real life family. Some of you even put the FUN in dysfunctional, LOL…) Also, I totally understand if  you are busy and can’t or choose not to participate. I just want to let you all know that I read you, see your comments, and take notice out here.
Not in any particular order….
1.)  Lisa at Lisa Macy Coaching – Lisa always has an uplifting and encouraging word for me, no matter what.
2.) Jill at Jill Weatherholt – She’s a creative, and her mind seems to go in the same directions as mine, so there’s that whole kindred spirit-thing going on. 😉
3.) Robin at Witless Dating After Fifty – Robin is my newly adopted big sister, which is refreshing, because I’ve always been the big sister, and we relate to the same things on many levels. ❤
4.) That anonymous blogger whose life is more daring than even my fantasies at The Shit Show That Is My Life  – She’s that cousin that doesn’t coddle me. Thanks for the “real,” Lady! 😉
5.) Aussa over at Hacker. Ninja. Hooker. Spy. – Girl, I know you don’t do awards, but I have to give you a shout out because – hospital settings, and you just “get it” LOL….You have a ScrewLucy, so that’s bonafide family. 😉
6.) Skwarl at There’s a Squirrel in My Blog – Because she really is family. 🙂 Plus she trusts me to train her. 😉
7.) CookieCakes at Cordelia’s Mom – When I read her blogs, sometimes it seems like I’m reading what is inside my head. Please don’t hold that against her. 😉
8.)  Janey over at Cupid or Cats – She makes me proud that I married an Irish guy. That makes us in-laws in a way, right?
9.) Mother Hen at the Mother Hen Diaries  – Just good reading. I could SO see here with a cup of coffee and homemade coffee cake at the table with Grandma, Mom, and me. 🙂
10.) That sweet blogger over at I Prefer Deep Blues and Sea Foam Greens – She is the niece I wish I had. My r/l sister doesn’t have kids, soooooo….
Here are the rules:

The rules of this award are:

Sunshine & Sisterhood Sunday…

In the past week or so, I’ve been given a couple more awards and have just been kind of sidetracked with everything going on around here, so I am finally sitting down to get these acknowledged.

Sunshine…

My bloggin’ buddy, Rob, over at Weight2Lose2013 sent over a Sunshine Award (which is the only sun we’ve seen around these parts in several days!) Thank you, Rob! Big virtual hugs headed your way:

Sunshine Award

Sunshine Award

Now I get to answer the following questions:

  1. Why did you start your blog?
A few years ago I was blogging furiously on my photo-blog to sort of try to promote my business. Because it was for business, I found myself really filtered, so I thought it might be fun to do a “because I can say what I want” blog, Random Musings From A Type-A Workaholic was born.
  2. What is your favorite movie – ever?
Would you think I was lying if I were to say that I don’t actually have one? I have a few favorites, in no particular order, however: Romeo & Juliet (the original from what? 1969?), The Sound of Music, West Side Story, Titanic, and The Notebook are the handful that I can watch over and over again.
  3. Do you get tired of bloggin?
Nope, not really. I enjoy it quite a lot, and now that I’ve resurrected my photo blog, I feel like I’m constantly trying to stay up-to-date on both, but I don’t get tired of it. Writing and photography are my two creative outlets and really help me center myself.
  4. Where do you want your blog to take you to?
Oz? Seriously, I didn’t originally have an ulterior motive when I started Musings, but the more I put into it, the more I think I would like to compile a book from it just for laughs. The Bloggess and Snarky In The Suburbs have both made that transition, and I could live with that.
  5. What type of blogs do you find interesting?
I am really into humorous OR fitness-related OR nutrition types of blogs. Do you know what kind of a find it is to find one all wrapped up in one package?
  6. What is your favorite song TODAY?
    Magic by Coldplay.
  7. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Somewhere on a beach, as long as it’s hot and tropical. The hubs and I are really eyeballing Belize as a retirement option.
  8. What is your favorite creative outlet?
It’s a toss up between writing and photography. I have the opportunity to write more often, however.
  9. Least favorite part of your day?
You know that time when it’s too late to hit the snooze button again? That.
  10. What is your favorite article of clothing?
My flip-flops. Hands (or is it feet?) down…

I know I am supposed to put out a list of nominees at this point, but I want to say that the Sunshine Award was also part of the Award Foursome from some weeks back and I don’t want to hit the same people again. Besides, I also have another award (below) that asks that I nominate fourteen other bloggers, and I don’t want to hit everyone twice in a day. 😉 I know, I am a bit lazy, but as y’all are seeing, I’m doing well to keep up with the regular stuff, and hitting 14 bloggers twice for two separate awards… *whew* You know, unless you WANT to do both of them…So to my fourteen listed below under the Sisterhood award? Y’all can absolutely do this one, as well, and simply use the same questions that were given to me.  🙂 Because I don’t want to be “that blogger” that stopped the train, LOL….

Sisterhood of the World Bloggers

sisterhood

My girls, Janey and Lydia  both notified me of my Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award, to which I say, “THANK YOU!” 🙂

I love that I only need to link (and notify) 14 bloggers, because that makes it easy on the recipients, also. So the rules are to acknowledge your nominator, list your nominees, and notify them. I am going to be the lazy one that is going to copy and paste my notifications, because the morning is almost gone and my to-do list is ridiculous. 😉

In no particular order are my nominees:

Lisa at Lisa Macy Coaching

Mother Hen at The Mother Hen Diaries

Laurie at My Foray Into Food Storage

Liz over at Liz Logic

Masala & Blarney

Whitney over at Well, That Happened

Cookie Cakes at Cordelia’s Mom

Ruthie over at Ruthie Rambles

Robin at Witless Dating After Fifty

Skwarl at There’s a Squirrel in My Blog

Kristin at Stamped With a Heart

Girl Seule

Banded Carolina Girl

White Haired Shooter

So, you’ll notice some new “faces” in my list. I’ve made some new friends in the blogosphere, so make sure you pop on over and visit them, as well. And let’s be honest. You know they are good, because I don’t follow blogs that suck. 😉

Y’all may also read about this here before you see your official nomination notification in your little corners of the blogosphere. Let’s face it; it’s Sunday and I’m slow. Feel free to accept one, both, or neither. These just mean I think y’all are pretty terrific, and by putting these out there, I hope to help you increase your readership. 🙂

Until Next Time…

More Awards? Dang, and Thanks!

So, I have this wisdom tooth coming out tomorrow, and I have been uber mellow about the whole damned situation, you know…until now. It’s after six p.m. here on the east coast, so I can’t exactly call and cancel, so I figure now would be a good time to visit the awards I’ve received this week. Because keeping your mind off of an inevitable fear can only be good for all of us…

Can I just say how honored I am?

Can I just say how honored I am?

Lydia Devadson put me up for the “Wonderful Team Member Readership Award,” a special award given by bloggers to thank people who take the time to read their blog and look at their posts. Lydia’s blog, An Idiot’s Guide to Parenting, is one of my personal favorites, because even though my baby boy graduated high school last year, I still remember and relate to the issues and foibles Lydia encounters daily. 🙂 Thank you, Lydia! 🙂 I enjoy your blog immensely!

In accepting this award, I am required to do the following (note that there are no lengthy writing requirements for this one 😉 ):

  1. Display the award.
  2. Thank the person who nominated me on their blog.
  3. Nominate 14 blogs who are readers of my blog.
  4. Let the nominees know.

Seems easy enough…I can do this… So here are my fourteen:

  1. Kristen at Stamped With a Heart.
  2. Rob over at Weight2Lose2013.
  3. Janey at Cupid or Cats.
  4. Robin over there at Witless Dating After Fifty.
  5. Elaine at Joyful2Bee.
  6. Squirrel at There’s a Squirrel in My Blog.
  7. Linda at LindaPano.com.
  8. Whitney Duprey at Well, That Happened.
  9. Liz at U2RLoved.
  10. Roger at rmactsc.
  11. Lisa at Lisa Macy Coaching.
  12. I Prefer Deep Blues and Seafoam Greens.
  13. Kate at Run with Pup.
  14. Caitlin at Fit And Feminist.

I also want to give a shout out to Rob over there at Weight2Lose2013 for putting me out there for another Liebster. I thank you wholeheartedly, but my nominees are repeated multiple times and/or have more than a couple hundred followers…but, again? I thank you a lot! 🙂 Okay, and nobody wants to know that much about me…Unless it’s dental related, ha ha…
